The Servers

*******************************************

This page gives details on the two servers that are used to run the LAN Game's each month. The following shows pictures of the two servers, with information about each of them.

Server1 is a Cyrix233 with 128mb of memory that runs Windows 2000 Server. Its role during the day is to handle all the IP Addresses, user accounts and security.

SERVER 2 -

Server2 an Intel Pentium 150 with 24mb of memory and runs Windows NT Server Version 4 and takes care of monitoring, produces the stats during the day and can also take over from Server1 in the event of a failure. This means that the network can keep running, albeit a tad slower when server2 is in charge.

The servers spend most of there time running my HOME network that includes things such as the ability to Hot Desk, send internal mail, has an intranet and serves two printers a laser and an inkjet. Server1 is also the File server and the proxy server for the network. My network is just a mini project that I came up with a few years ago to get in some practise, and obviously did its job as I am now a Network Technician :-)
