My BBC came from a sale on E-Bay (along with a few others!). It came with a double disk drive and a very rare welcome disk for the ADFS.
Here is a little bit of history about this computer:-
The BBC Master was first released in January 1986. It was based on the original BBC Model B but it had a few added extras. These were, loads more memory such as shadow, sideways and private RAM, it also had View (A Word Processor), ViewSheet (A Spreadsheet), ADFS (an Advanced Filing System), Edit and Terminal built in. The BBC Model B was launched in 1981; the reason for the name “BBC” was because Acorn Computers Ltd in Cambridge (surprise surprise!!) won the license to make a computer to support the BBC's Computer Literacy Project. The BBC Model B was very successful. The BBC Master was an instant success when it was launched in 1986 and it can still be found in schools today. Production ceased in May 1993 because Acorn decided that sales were falling and enough was enough, the parts needed to make the BBC Master where becoming increasingly hard to find. The 32-bit machines were also becoming ever more popular.
I particullay like this machine as it has the Spreadsheet and Word processor built in, this means no disks can be lost (something that im very good at!). It is a very chunky machine, that is very heavy and well built. It has a good keyboard feel to it, and I have always liked it even when I used to use one at primary school.
